Oh boy, this is not a good discovery if you're on a diet. Or if you would rather not gain 25 pounds. Either way, this is bad.
these are mine. mmmmm.
I made these breadtwists last night and am loving how good these were.
Ease of Preparation: A
- These are so fast! There's a 10 minute rest/rise and then a 15-20 minute rise after they're formed. They cook for about 20 minutes (mine were done at about 17). They take under an hour from start to finish!
- UPDATE: my sister made these last night and was so hungry she skipped the 2nd rise completely. She said they turned out great! Good to know.
- The recipe isn't specific about how much butter, garlic, or salt to use. I just eyeballed it and it turned out great. After I rolled out the dough I think I used 3 T of butter and one bigger garlic clove. When the breadsticks were all cooked I used about another 2 T of butter but didn't add any garlic. I didn't want to spread raw garlic on them, but I think next time I'll throw in a bit of garlic powder. We love garlic around here.
Taste: A+
- They tasted pretty similar to the Pizza Factory breadtwists. Good thing because that's the only thing I really like at that restaurant. Now we can make them at home for WAY cheaper.
- Why have I never thought to roll out bread, slather it with butter, garlic, and salt, fold and cut it? This is genius.
Overall: A+ (both Matt and me)
- I have found a new best friend.
I made these a few days ago too and they were soooo good. Yum! Thank you for posting the recipe. I end up using most of the recipes you post... I'm a little lazy on the menu planning. :)
ReplyDeleteI made these the other night too, and LOVE them....I decided to make some tonight, but we're doing "cinnamon twists" this time around, with cinnamon/sugar instead of the garlic. YUM!
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to stop making these...and eating them. Thanks for this recipe! We have also changed it up--we made orange twists for breakfast and cinnamon twists. We used it as pizza dough too. YUMMY!!
